About the campus

One Studio
A Whole Childhood Of Art

For children and teenagers aged 3 to 18, it runs a wide range of art programmes on the REMAT curriculum. Here they explore and create, stretch the imagination, develop creativity and express ideas of their own — with support all the way to art-school admissions.

The campus teaches REMAT, the spiral curriculum developed in Singapore by TAFA Group, the education group behind OpenKids, braided with the IB Approaches to Learning. Key ideas return as a child grows, from age 3 to 18, each time with greater depth.

The REMAT Curriculum
A Structured System Of Courses

REMAT is the spiral curriculum behind every OpenKids art programme, developed in Singapore by TAFA Group, the education group behind OpenKids, on Jerome Bruner's theory. It brings a child back to each key concept as they grow, from age 3 to 18, deeper at every return. Colour is never taught once. It runs from a first mixing at three to a personal palette in the portfolio years. Its name comes from its five modules: Regroup, Extend, Multi, Atman and Theme.

New Teachers And New Friends

As children grow, classes and teachers rotate, and each teacher brings a different artistic specialty. Every regroup opens a new field of art for the child, and new friendships for the whole family.

The Core Ladder

Three studios, taken in order as a child grows.

  1. Young artists raising paint-covered hands around one big floor painting

    01Ages 3–8

    Creative Art

Painting, drawing, clay and outdoor exploration for the youngest beginners — from First Acquaintance at three to Professional Art at eight.

  2. An artist painting at a full-size easel in a double-height loft studio
OpenKids programme photo · not this campus

    02Ages 8–18

    Professional Art

Fine art and design across sketching and colour, with a path set by each student's interests, goals and direction. It leads on to Portfolio Preparation.

  3. A teenage OpenKids student painting a ballet dancer at her easel

    03Ages 8–18

    Art Portfolio Preparation

A distinctive portfolio built from graphite drawing to design — for students set on art school, and for the applications that follow.

Alongside The Ladder

Open across the age range; timetabled by the campus.

  1. Acrylic painting of an artist at an easel painting a red torii gate (student work)

    01Ages 3–18

    Outdoor Sketching

Painting on location with an instructor — nature, culture, heritage and local life observed at first hand, to sharpen artistic sensitivity.

  2. Adult hands guiding a child's clay-covered hands on a pottery wheel

    02Ages 3–18

    Specialised Art

Short themed courses between terms — craft, canvas painting, clay modelling, printmaking and photography — and family art workshops where parents and children create side by side.

  3. Digital illustration of a red lion dance head and sky lanterns (student work)

    03Ages 3–18

    Digital Art

Graphic design, digital painting, animation and fashion design. What the hand learns on paper carries straight to the screen.

  4. Mixed-media diorama of a copper steampunk shark (award-winning student work)

    04Ages 3–18

    Art Competition Coaching

Preparation for international competitions, from reading the brief to the finished, submitted entry.

  5. A 3D-printed dinosaur skeleton on a studio table

    05Ages 3–18

    AI & 3D Printing

The idea before the prompt, the object after the screen. AI-assisted image-making judged by a trained eye, and 3D modelling that ends as something a child can hold.

The spiral

One Idea
Seven Visits

Bruner's insight was that a child need not wait to meet a big idea. They meet it early, in a form they can hold, then meet it again, later and harder. Colour is the clearest example. It is not a topic covered once but a thread running the length of the curriculum, and on into portfolio preparation.

The artists return too. Paul Klee appears at ages 3–4 and again at 4–5; Claude Monet at 6–8 and again at 8–10, carried across the handover from Creative Art to Professional Art. The same artist, met by a different child.

Teach A Child To Fish

Knowledge gives a child a fish. The IB Approaches to Learning (ATL) teach a child to fish. In REMAT, the five ATL skills are not a sixth subject set beside drawing. They are the strands the spiral is braided from, running its full length from age 3 to 18.

Our story

From First Brushstroke
To Art-School Portfolio

OpenKids is an education brand of TAFA Group, an education group founded in Singapore in 2015. OpenKids Art Programmes follow one continuous course of study from age 3 to 18, taught in sequence, studio by studio. The same studios, the same ladder, now open in Kuala Lumpur.

What Art Gives A Child

Four things a child keeps long after the paint has dried.

  • A hand shading a charcoal portrait study

    01

    Sharper Thinking

Art sharpens memory and critical thinking. The faster the world changes, the more an agile mind is worth.

  • A row of sharpened coloured pencils

    02

    Living Imagination

Imagination is the lifeblood of painting. Practised in the studio, it becomes a habit: making something that did not exist before.

  • A young girl at an easel, absorbed in her painting

    03

    Emotional Intelligence

Art gives feeling a form that words cannot. Through it a child comes to understand others, and to understand themselves.

  • Hands folding a sheet of red paper

    04

    Quiet Confidence

A place to try without fear of failure. Mistakes are part of the process; confidence follows.

Competitions & honours

Their Work Speaks
Before They Do

Every year, work from the programme's students travels to international competitions and exhibitions around the world. Entering is not about the prize: a child learns to decide what they believe and to say it in a single image, and the honours follow.

Anything Else To Ask

Message the campus team on WhatsApp. They reply during opening hours.

WhatsApp the campus
01Where do we park?

Plaza Arkadia has two levels of basement parking. A free shuttle bus runs between the mall and the MRT.

02How do we book a trial class?

Message the campus on WhatsApp below. The team will reply with available trial times, and your child's first class is free.

03What happens during the trial?

A full lesson plus a gentle skills assessment. Afterwards, the teacher walks you through a personal learning plan for your child.

04How much are the classes?

Fees depend on the learning plan we build after the trial assessment — programme, level and schedule all shape it. You'll see every figure before you commit to anything.

05My child's age falls between two stages. Where do we start?

The trial assessment decides — teachers place your child by readiness, not just birthday. Many children start across two programmes at once.
